Go-Kits (aka Disaster Kits)
Keep yourself and your family prepared for the next diaster by packing a "go-kit."

San Jose RACES volunteers are encouraged to not only pack up a go-kit for themselves and their family, but also one of a radio-go-kit. It is compiled of all the things you would want to have with you with the focus on the radio and communications.
San Jose RACES has also created an unique ATV(Amateur Television) kit. This allows us to set up and transmit video in under ten minutes!
Here is a list of different items that we encourage our volunteers to pack up, but this is not the only items to have:
FOR ONE DAY OR LESS
Equipment:
- 2M Handheld Radio - Instruction manual
- Charged Batteries but don’t rely on charged batteries – keep a battery pack and spare batteries.
- Cigarette lighter adapter power for H/T
- Earphones
- Speaker-mike
- Headphones/Headset
- Antenna adapters (coax connectors)/cables
- Feed line
- Spare/Alternate antennas - Mag mount - Roll-up J-pole - Fixed J-pole - 5/8 λ or ¼ λ rubber duck
- - Light line with weight (50’) for roll-up J-pole
- - Portable, collapsible mast for fixed J-pole
Clothing:
- ·Jacket
